Tlos -Yakapark- Saklıkent
Saklikent is located near the Taurus mountains between Fethiye and Kas. People living in this region found Saklikent almost 20 years ago. Being the longest and deepest gorge in Turkey (18 km long) Saklikent is host to many visitors from around the world. It is so narrow that the sun cannot penetrate the water, making it deliciously ice-cold in the summer. Inside the gorge the limestone canyon walls, sculpted by water, rise up above you. Saklikent is a Canyon which is absolutely beautiful, esoteric and fascinating.
Choose appropriate attire as you will get soaked, and don't take your expensive non waterproof cameras! Be aware you will need to bring appropriate shoes as you will sometimes be walking in shallow water or mud. You can also rent or buy plastic/rubber shoes from the River Bar. You will see the caves, and sometimes the sky. You will find yourself in another world among the high rocks. You do not feel the Mediterranean's irritating heat in this Canyon. In total sixteen caves have been found among the rocks, which ancient people discovered in this place and used for shelter. There is a 700m difference in height between the entrance and the exit of Saklikent. Walking through Saklikent you mostly sink into the deep wet clay. On the way you can have a quick shower under little waterfalls. It is not possible to reach the end of the canyon due to the natural conditions. Recent experience has shown people could only reach the end of the canyon by the help of safety belts.
